The Choices I Made! A Post Dedicated to the Year 2015!

As I look back on the Year 2015, I think of all the things that altered the course of my journey, or in other words, the things that led me to the path I am walking on today. These things are the choices that I made! And I would like to list a few of them down for you:

  1. I chose to end the toxic friendships which were nothing but a stress to my mind. Because who wants friends who only make you feel “less than”. The year was about ending some friendships and not feeling sorry at all.
  2. I chose to be more independent than I was back in college, as early as possible, by accepting the very first job offered to me. I did not think twice about the pros and cons because all I wanted at that time was to get into the corporate life as soon as possible and be more independent. I am glad I do not regret my decision.
  3. Being an introvert by nature, the third choice that I made was the toughest one. I chose not to hold myself back from sharing my feelings, my thoughts with those who matter to me, those who care about me, those who understand me. And somehow, it feels good.

Review: Man’s Search for Meaning

Man's Search for Meaning
Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The autobiography part was heart-wrenching. But the second and third parts of the book were based on pure psychiatry/ psychoanalysis/ logotherapy and most of the terms were difficult to comprehend. All in all, it was an eye-opener in many senses- how people behave when they feel that their suffering is not worthy, how they need a goal/ a meaning to be able to fight for survival, why humans hurt other humans, et al.
I am rating it 3 stars owing to its hard-to-understand psychiatric terms.

Heya fellow bloggers and my readers!

I am currently reading ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’ and like million other readers in the world, I share the same view that this book grabs your attention from the very first page. And I even found that powerful quote (which is going to be my all-time favorite quote now) on the first page itself! I wonder what the rest of the pages have in store for me! 😀

Review: And Then There Were None

And Then There Were None
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It was a nice quick mystery to read. Very simple to understand. In the initial few pages, I felt like I was reading something similar to the TV show “Lost” as in both the stories, people are stranded on an island with murders taking place around them and these people are curious to resolve the mystery. But when I was halfway through, I realized it was nothing like “Lost”. I really liked the concept of relating a nursery rhyme with all the murders which were happening one by one. Nicely written, not at all complex. It’s a book which you would like to read when you are on a travel maybe, and can finish it in mere two days!

How I Started Blogging!

Heya my Blogger Friends!

Today I got my 150th follower (thanks to Dr. Joseph Suglia) and it feels good to see this count increasing with each passing day. I had started this blog two years back at a time when I was feeling very low, life had taken a big turn, and I was trying to cope up with whatever life threw my way. I needed a place where I would be able to distract myself from the “reality” (even though for a brief period, but it did help me), I wanted to be as far away from the reality as possible. You may think I am a dodger but I am not. Because ultimately, I did have to go back to “life” and start facing all the problems and come out of it more strongly than ever.

It’s strange how life makes you do/try things you never would have thought of doing otherwise! This blog is one of them!

A good read!

Life is a journey. It can be a smooth dual carriageway with no traffic, or it can be a decrepid country lane full of potholes. Ultimately it has to move on and you have to be prepared to move on with it. Things can be tough at times, and you may have had a difficult life or have gone through some turbulent events, but there is always the future to look forward to. Sometimes chances and opportunities may present themselves in your life, and it is up to you to exploit them and turn things around. Each of these golden chances is a chance to make things fresh.

I have seen people get divorced, get hurt, lose important things and people in their lives. I have seen people suddenly witness their health go into decline, or fall helplessly into a dark and soulless pit of despair. For them, I can try…

This is a message that I have written for my 16-year-old (younger) self as a part of the #DearMe campaign:

Hey girl,

Right now everything must be all goody-good around you, and the only worry you must be having is your board exams. I’d tell you to not take tension about all these petty things- exams, looks, crushes, career, future!! Because in a few years, you’d realize what matters most and that is your family and nothing else. All that matters is that your family is happy and healthy; everything else is just sprinkles on the sundae. I’d ask you to enjoy each and every moment with your loved ones; go out with them, go out often, click loads and loads of pictures with mom dad and di, spend more and more time with them instead of trapping yourself in your room to study all the time. In a few years time, you’re gonna face a lot of challenges, you are gonna learn to be strong, you’ll learn how to remain positive in every situation, you’re gonna witness the real problems and you are also gonna come out of those strongly. In a few years, you will be away from your family and will long to be with them at every moment. People are gonna change, you are gonna change. You will learn some hard lessons after going through a lot of drama in your life. All I have to say is be strong and brave, be independent, smile often, respect yourself enough to walk away from what makes you unhappy, and enjoy life!! Do not care a bit about what others do, about what others are gonna say, about how others treat you!! Don’t be bothered by anything and anyone. Love your family and trust that everything’s gonna be alright in the end. You definitely are gonna be more than alright in a few years, girl! Just keep going!
