Happy HOLI- The Most Colorful Festival in India!

holi

Today is HOLI, one of the most colorful and bright festivals of India. People celebrate this festival with full fervor and zest. Be it children, youngsters, or elderly, all get into the mood of this festival and play with colors and spray colored water on one another. There is another very popular activity of throwing water balloons at one another. I would say that it’s the most FUN festival of India as nobody feels bad even if the water balloon hits him/her hard. There’a a saying which everyone uses today “Bura mat maano, Holi hai” meaning “Don’t mind, it’s Holi”. Loud music is played as clouds of different colors fill the air. In the evening, we light bonfires which has a mythological significance and is known as ‘Holika Dahen”.

It is believed that the combinations of different colors played at this festival take all the sorrow away and make life itself more colorful.

During this festival, people are supposed to forget about any rivalries and start new healthy relations with all. Though it is a festival of Hinduism religion but every religion in India celebrates this festival and is a great proof of secularism, diversity and unity in the country.

Happy Holi friends !! 🙂

Nach Baliye (Indian Dance Show)

Ok friends! Here is a dance performance from an Indian reality dance show in which real life celebrity couples participate and compete for cash prize.

In this performance, the guy is standing and the girl is sitting on his shoulders. It was a very tough act and they performed beautifully. The couple is Ravi and Sargun. They are not trained dancers.

This song is in Hindi language. It’s Bollywood. And I hope you enjoy it too!

Want your views people!

The be-all and end-all

There is outrage, anger, sadness, sympathy, disappointment and what not. People want nothing but death penalty for the criminals. But it makes me question – Is it the ultimate solution? Will such heinous crimes not happen ever again if we give death sentence to these criminals? Will there be change in the minds of people who commit these crimes or think of committing? Will there be change in the way women are treated today? Will there then be a new morning full of hope and positivity? If yes, then go for it. But, if you think that these things are still Utopian, then think again. Think again, before you go out on the streets and demand for death penalty.

IS DEATH PENALTY THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION?

There is outrage, anger, sadness, sympathy, disappointment and what not. People want nothing but death penalty for the criminals. But it makes me question – Is it the ultimate solution? Will such heinous crimes not happen ever again if we give death sentence to these criminals? Will there be change in the minds of people who commit these crimes or think of committing? Will there be change in the way women are treated today? Will there then be a new morning full of hope and positivity? If yes, then go for it. But, if you think that these things are still Utopian, then think again. Think again, before you go out on the streets and demand for death penalty.

Yes, it’s true that this heinous crime deserves death sentence. But thinking that death penalty will stop such crimes from happening again then it’s absolutely wrong. There have been so many cases where death sentence has been given for various crimes. But has it been able to put an end to such crimes? The answer is NO.

Well, we should find out the reasons behind the happening of such incidents and then find the solution so that such cases don’t happen in the first place rather than thinking of what punishment to be given after everything has been ruined.

The Supreme Court has justified that death penalty is not the right solution as it would not put an end to such crimes because if death penalty is included in the law as the sole punishment for this crime, then in future, criminals won’t spare the lives of the victims. They will kill the victim right on the spot as it would mean eliminating the prime witness and the criminals might not get arrested in such cases.

I feel that what needs to be changed is the mindset of people- mindset of men who commit such crimes, mindset of parents who don’t teach their sons how to behave with women. Moral values need to be taught at the school level itself. Parents should teach their sons that girls deserve respect and are not an object of pleasure. Husbands should respect their wives as children learn from the environment they grow up in. Good environment in the house itself inculcates good moral values into children. Literacy alone would not do anything. Because it is not like literate people don’t stoop so low. Literacy has to be achieved with moral values as well.

If boys take stand in such cases then what can be more hopeful and bring positivity in society? When you see eve-teasing happening, raise your voice, don’t ignore. Prove that you care for your country and your country mates. Stand up for what is right. Condemn the wrong.

Change is needed from within, and not just from the government.
